Encourage ~ Inspire ~ Transform

Hope - is at the core of this blog. As a noun, HOPE generally describes a state or expectation that what we need or desire… something good, can be obtained and enjoyed. Like “air”, humans can’t live a fulfilling life for very long without it.
-
Breathe – to breathe, we must inhale and exhale, take-in and also release. To “Breathe Hope”, we must personally (and regularly) inhale HOPE, and then release it into the atmosphere around us.

Light Your World - Let’s face it, our culture and the world out there has grown rather dark and discouraging if not downright depressing. There are reminders all around us that much is not as it should be. Yet in a dark room, light a candle, and the light naturally pushes out some of the darkness. The darkness must yield to the light.
A Bit About Me

On a more personal note, I was born and raised in Colorado, the place I still call home. My husband Tim and I have been married for over 34 years now - crazy how the years go by! Together we have two grown children and one daughter in-law.

Among other things, I enjoy music, and “capturing the moment” through photographs or video. I am intrigued by well-written, creatively-told stories, especially in movies. I think I would have enjoyed working as a photo journalist, or in a role making films that capture the imagination and inspire others.

Even more, I’m passionate about “connection” in all forms… connection to our Creator, each other, ourselves, and all that we value. I love encouraging others to explore and stay connected to what matters most to them, and am a big believer in creating “healthy rhythms” and also “sacred-space”… unplugging from the world and making regular time for resting, rejuvenating and regrouping.

For work, I run a small day program for seniors with dementia, coming alongside families traveling the Alzheimer's/dementia journey. One of my greatest joys is offering those dealing with progressive memory loss the dignity, compassion and patience they need during this confusing and difficult time of their lives.
When we are intentional about putting the oxygen mask of HOPE on ourselves first, we can then help others find some of the same life-giving HOPE that we ourselves have discovered. This in turn causes ripples that can transform not only the planet we live on, but in playing our part, it can also transform us in the process.
Yes, the culture we live in can be dark and depressing. But in the midst of the darkness, dysfunction and chaos, the world can also be stunningly beautiful… full of wonder, goodness and possibility.
I invite you to join me on a quest for personal and shareable hope and encouragement. Sign up to receive an email reminder (or just check back here if you’d rather) and let’s explore together, ways we can find and illuminate hope and goodness in a world that desperately needs what we each have to offer.
In the same way, I believe we were all created to be a “light”… all uniquely created and gifted to bring light to the darkness, and make positive contributions to the world and more specifically, the circle of people around us. We aren’t alive at this time in history by accident. We all have a unique role to play in making the world - our own world, a better place.
